History of BAYADA Home Health Care

The origins of BAYADA Home Health Care date back to 1975, when J. Mark Baiada opened his first office in Philadelphia — RN Homecare — with a vision that everyone should be entitled to a safe home life, with comfort, independence, and dignity. Mark always felt a higher sense of purpose toward his clients, and he believed that when you entered someone's home, you entered their lives.

He set out to find like-minded professionals who shared that same sense of purpose and passion for helping people. The more he found, the more the company grew. In 1983, the company was renamed BAYADA Nurses to reflect the family atmosphere and values guiding the business every day.

In 2002, Mark began a companywide initiative to define and express the mission, vision, beliefs, and values that guided the work of BAYADA home health care professionals. Through a series of focus groups, overnight retreats, written surveys, and feedback sessions, The BAYADA Way emerged in 2005. This company philosophy guides the actions of every employee and defines the company's mission and vision for the future.

Mark's vision for BAYADA and the company's reach have grown exponentially. The company now provides the highest quality care in the home, spanning every age group and level of care — from pediatrics to geriatrics, to critical care or just being there. Our team of home health care professionals now includes nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, medical social workers, and home health aides.

With this evolution has come a new identity: BAYADA Home Health Care. The name was changed to clearly and consistently communicate our breadth of services, team of multidisciplinary professionals, and that The BAYADA Way — our company philosophy — is at the heart of everything we do.
