Can you share what lead you to seek support from BAYADA?

Once my body began experiencing more advanced complications resulting from the ever progressing disease process of ALS, my family and I decided to take advantage of the North Carolina Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults. This service allows qualified adults to remain in their homes while receiving care that is cost-effective in comparison to the Medicaid cost for nursing facility care. Upon completion of the application and interview process we were asked which local home heath care service we wished to use. We choose BAYADA, due to the simple fact that my wife was a former employee of the company. During her time with BAYADA she provided care for another person who also experiences ALS. From her working experience at BAYADA she felt that they would be able to provide the professional reliable service that we needed.

Can you share the details of a memorable experience you had where BAYADA was
there supporting you?

We recently participated in the Ride2Recovery's Gulf Coast Challenge bike tour. These cycling events are produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office, to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs for wounded veterans that feature cycling as the core activity. With a sponsorship from BAYADA to cover the cost of an on hand CNA, Rebecca Miller was able to accompany, assist, and even participate in this event with us. Without this partnership we could not have been able to complete the journey that undoubtedly gave hope to others effected by ALS. Can you share how BAYADA helps you and your family enjoy your time together on
an ongoing basis?

My family consist of an extremely busy mother who is also a Neurotruama ICU nurse, a disabled person with ALS, and a rambunctious 13 month old little girl. Through the help of the CAP Program and services provided by BAYADA, my wonderful wife is able to continue her career while being rest assured that her loving husband and their home are being well taken care of. BAYADA provides so much more than in home care. BAYADA gives families the ability to live a higher quality of life that is less effected by a debilitating disease, such as ALS. BAYADA's care services lifts the burden that would be weighing so heavily on my wife and other family members. It gives us more time together for enjoying the aspects of life that should be enjoyed. Without the help we receive from BAYADA our lives would be far different, and most likely not nearly as enjoyable.

I only wish that every family effected by a motor neuron disease could have access to the services and benefits that come from the CAP Program and BAYADA that we receive.
